After finishing that ride, cross the bridge and head up to the main road. Drive through town and keep going until you get to the fire station on the left. Just past it to the right is a road that will take you to the river, here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/22%C2%B053'37.3%22N+120%C2%B040'14.6%22E\/@22.8937069,120.6685223,1107m\/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d22.893702!4d120.670711\">22.893702, 120.670711<\/a>. Cross the bridge and begin the second half of the ride.<\/p>\n<p>As with many mountain trails, these start out as concrete and slowly morph to broken concrete and then loose dirt\/rocky wider single-track trails. Any small cc dirtbike can handle it easily. Larger bikes may have problems towards the top.<\/p>\n<p>After crossing the bridge you can follow the road up to some trails or turn right to more trails. The trails to the right aren&#8217;t anything particularly interesting, but still offer some views.Before you head up, there&#8217;s a nice trail to a waterfall at the end of the <span id=\"result_box\" class=\"short_text\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\">Luomusi Trail (\u7f85\u6728\u65af\u6eaa\u6b65\u9053) here <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/22%C2%B053'20.5%22N+120%C2%B040'42.0%22E\/@22.8890289,120.6761383,1107m\/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d22.889024!4d120.678327\">22.889024, 120.678327<\/a>. It will cost you about 40 minutes round trip. More info here: <a href=\"https:\/\/followxiaofei.com\/taiwan\/kaohsiung-waterfalls-maolin-maolin-valley-waterfall\">Maolin Valley Waterfall<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Taking the road up to the left (in the beginning, after the bridge) will take you to some more basic trails. There&#8217;s some farms along the way and some better views as you ascend. I ended up at a makeshift campsite. It would be a decent place to set up camp if &#8220;wild camping&#8221; is your thing. It&#8217;s possible it connects. This has led to many great adventures that I decided to share here. Hiking seemed a natural extension to the off-roading for me. Many hiking trails begin at the end of a motorcycle trail. So I would often follow them on foot, wondering where they would take me. I didn\u2019t want to forget these hiking trips, so I decided to write about them here. Hopefully they\u2019ll be interesting and helpful to you. Since my first peak, JiuBaoShan \u2013 \u4e45\u4fdd\u5c71 in April of 2018, I\u2019ve hiked to nearly 70 peaks in Taiwan and had a ton of adventures! Taiwan is such a great country to hike. As fate would have it, one day I found myself in the mountains on a rocky trail while looking for a place to record. My scooter couldn\u2019t handle the rough conditions so I continued on foot. This eventually led to me purchasing a dual sport motorcycle \u2013 two in fact. Slowly my field recordings became less and less until I was riding off-road exclusively. This has led to many great adventures that I decided to share here. Hiking seemed a natural extension to the off-roading for me. Many hiking trails begin at the end of a motorcycle trail. So I would often follow them on foot, wondering where they would take me. I didn\u2019t want to forget these hiking trips, so I decided to write about them here. Hopefully they\u2019ll be interesting and helpful to you. Since my first peak, JiuBaoShan \u2013 \u4e45\u4fdd\u5c71 in April of 2018, I\u2019ve hiked to nearly 70 peaks in Taiwan and had a ton of adventures! Taiwan is such a great country to hike. I\u2019m really lucky to have chosen here to live. I was a brand ambassador for Six Moons Designs as part of their 2020 and 2021 International Ambassador Team.
